Dr Marinela Šokarda Slavić

Dr Marinela Šokarda Slavić, Senior Research Associate at ICTM

She participates in the implementation of WP3 and WP4 of the project UniCorn.

She graduated and earned her PhD at the Department of Biochemistry, UBCF. Since 2013, she has been employed at the University of Belgrade - Institute of Chemistry, Technology, and Metallurgy, an institution of national importance for the Republic of Serbia.

Scientific interests

Applied biotechnology of enzymes that hydrolyze raw starch; recombinant hydrolytic enzymes and their application in the production of functional food and biofuel production.

Engagement on projects

She has participated in the national project OI172048, PoC project 5268 funded by the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the international project CRP – ICGEB. Additionally, she led the Proof of Concept 14884 project “'NANOCELLMAX”, which is scheduled for release during the period of 2024 - 2025.

Staff education

She participates in working with master's and doctoral candidates, and has mentored several graduate and master's theses of students from the Faculty of Chemistry. In addition, she is engaged as a lecturer in an elective course on Optimization of selected biochemical processes in the master's academic studies program in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade.

Cooperation

She has successfully established international cooperation with the "Jožef Stefan" Institute in Ljubljana. She actively collaborates with Dr. Milan Kojić, who is a principal research fellow and head of the research service at the Institute of virology, vaccines, and sera "Torlak".
